The initial transaction involved swapping 1,120 $ZEC held in the Zodl mobile wallet’s shielded pool into $USDT. According to a market report, the user transferred the resulting funds to a MetaMask address and subsequently to a Ledger hardware wallet. Eight hours later, the balance was deposited into an Ethereum address provided by $NEAR Intents, where the transaction stalled despite receiving onchain confirmation.
The complainant, identified on the official Zcash forum as “timtech,” stated that the funds originated from legitimate activity within the platform. The cryptographic architecture of the Zcash shielded pool prevents independent public verification of earlier transaction hops.
Customer support initially flagged the case on July 21 as a temporary administrative hold subject to anti-money laundering (AML) review. The user submitted screenshots and transaction hashes, and offered to sign cryptographic messages to verify ownership of the involved addresses.
