A pundit has insisted on the minimum amount he believes XRP investors should hold, which now coincides with the requirement to enter the top 1% rich list.
XRP’s price action over the past few months has been nothing short of extraordinary despite the recent range-bound movements. At current price around $2, which many have continued to lament, XRP is up 374% from its price at the start of November 2024.
While this demonstrates the asset’s penchant for explosive growth, the sudden massive uptick has a way of pricing hesitant investors out. This has been the case for most XRP investors who failed to procure more tokens when the asset traded at much lower prices.
Requirement to be Among the Top 1% XRP Holder Shrinks
Outspoken community pundit Vale recently highlighted this in a post on X. He called attention to the fact that he has been persistently asking investors to amass at least 50,000 XRP, noting that this balance is what he believes is the minimum threshold for an XRP investment.
Notably, this incessant campaign was an effort to compel investors to procure up to this amount before they eventually get priced out. To drive home his point, the market commentator shared a snapshot of the XRP Rich List in his recent comment, which confirms that the requirement to enter the top 1% has continued to shrink.
Data from the snapshot shows that an investor would need to hold about 51,000 XRP, close to Vale’s 50,000 XRP requirement, to now sit among the top 1% holders. This requirement has continued to drop as XRP’s value sees massive surges, eventually pricing out some investors.
Data from previous reports confirm that the minimum requirement for this top 1% was 56,304 XRP back in January 2025. In addition, a report from April 1, 2025, indicates that just last month, the minimum requirement had dropped to 52,030 XRP.
Now, this threshold lies at 51,070 XRP. However, in an ironic development, while the XRP tokens required to enter the top 1% continue to drop, the amount necessary to enter this elite group increases rapidly. This is essentially pricing out hesitant investors, who might find it more difficult to enter the tier now.
Calls for Investors to Hold At Least 50,000 XRP
Interestingly, Vale had indeed consistently advocated for an accumulation culture that encouraged investors to amass at least 50,000 XRP. In November 2023, he responded to a disclosure from an investor who mentioned holding 9,000 XRP.
Vale insisted that the 9,000 tokens were not enough for an investor, insisting that the minimum threshold should be 50,000. He also criticized the idea of putting one’s investments into meme coins instead of accumulating more XRP.
At the time of this conversation, XRP traded for $0.62, with 50,000 XRP worth around $31,000. In October 2024, he also suggested that 38,000 XRP was not enough, again advocating for 50,000 tokens. At this point, the 50,000 tokens were worth a mere $25,500, as XRP traded for $0.51.
Now, as the asset changes hands at $2.37, these 50,000 XRP tokens are valued at $118,500, making it more difficult for investors to accumulate them.
Moreover, if an investor had committed $25,500 XRP to procure the 50,000 tokens last October and held onto the investment, they would now be among the top 1% XRP holders. Now, to enter this group, they would need to spend over $121,000.
Nonetheless, some proponents insist that if XRP had a chance of reaching any of its lofty price targets, investors would not need as much as 50,000 XRP. Specifically, Edoardo Farina advocates for a lower minimum balance of 10,000.
