Figures reveal that over the preceding 72 hours, three bitcoin mining pools discovered more than 69% of the 436 blocks found during that period. Foundry USA and Antpool, two industry titans, command a formidable 55.5% of Bitcoin’s total computational power.

Foundry Dominates Bitcoin Mining in 12-Month Period, Discovers 15,651 Blocks Out of 53,528

In the aftermath of the halving event, the concentration of bitcoin mining pools persists, with the total hashrate dipping below the 600 exahash per second (EH/s) threshold. Data compiled by btc.com reveals that Foundry’s mining pool, boasting 168.05 exahash per second (EH/s) of hashpower, secures a substantial 28.9% of the overall mining power.

Similarly, Antpool emerges as a significant player in the field, having registered 159.92 EH/s over the past three days, which translates to a sizable 27.1% share of the total hashrate. Securing the third spot, Viabtc claims 13.3% of the total mining power or 79.96 EH/s of computational power.

In a span of three days, an estimated 436 Bitcoin blocks were discovered, with Foundry leading the charge by finding 124 blocks. Close on its heels, Antpool unearthed 118 blocks, while Viabtc trailed with 59 blocks. Collectively, these three giants of the mining pool industry wield a significant 69% of the total hashrate over the 72-hour timeframe.

The story remains the same as we examine the past 90 days, with Foundry contributing a hefty 28.59% of the overall hashrate, resulting in the discovery of 3,742 blocks out of a total of 13,090 blocks. Antpool follows closely, having secured 23.98% of the hashrate and unearthed 3,139 blocks, while Viabtc lags behind with a 13.09% share, leading to the capture of 1,714 blocks over the past quarter.

The rankings shift slightly when we broaden our scope to the past 12 months. Foundry continues to dominate, having captured 29.24% of the year’s total hashrate, while Antpool trails with a respectable 24.57%. However, the bronze medal went to F2pool this time, which amassed 12.42% of the hashrate over the past year.

Viabtc, meanwhile, recorded 11.19% of the aggregate computational power during this period. In terms of block discoveries, the 365-day stretch saw a total of 53,528 blocks mined. Foundry once again led the pack, having found 15,651 blocks, while Antpool and F2pool discovered 13,154 and 6,648 blocks, respectively.
